A great theme for children 4 and up…

Make your own Thank You Notes (as Invitations) using nice card stock paper and either markers or your computer and printer. Write the party information backwards! Your guests will have to hold the invitation up to a mirror to read it and be sure to let them know to wear their clothes backwards! The birthday child will want to be sure to wear his/her clothes backwards too.

Greet your Guests at the door with “Goodbye, thanks for coming” Instead of thank you Notes, send out the “Invitations”.

Have cake and ice cream first, then open presents, then play games.

Examples of games to play: Backwards obstacle course (be safe!), Freeze Frame (have them dance when the music is off and freeze when you turn it on),  How many jar? (have them pick a number, THEN fill a jar with precounted candies).

Set the table cloth and the party supplies UNDER the table, with the plates and cups upside down. Turn all the chairs around so they are facing backwards.

Upon leaving, tell your guests “hello”

We did this theme for my daughters 7th Birthday, and we even had guests show up with her present “backwards” (they gave her the gift and some wrapping paper and tape), others showed up with the wrapping paper inside out and the card outside the envelope.

Tons of fun to see the kids do everything backwards!
